Immigrants facing the heat in the US
In yet another revelation made by the Inter American Development Bank (IDB) it has got clear that the slumping US economy and the anti immigrant climate is posing a serious threat to the immigrants living in the country. The study shows that the poor Latinos are unable to send money back home because of this. In 2006 around 73% of the Latinos were sending cash whereas at the present moment very few of them are finding it possible to remit money given the kind of economic crunch that they are experiencing. The study however shows that the total amount of remittances will remain same owing to the fact that the average amount of each remittance has increased and the number of Latinos living in the US has gone up as well.
The Latinos however are more concerned about the anti immigrant wave that is sweeping across the United States. They are living in insecurity and are tensed because of the problems that have been prevailing for quite some time. States like Pennsylvania have already issued ordinances to put a stop to illegal immigration. It is now becoming increasingly important to look for alternatives for immigration in the change of events.
